We are sending a 'boat' to Saturn's moon Titan. The Huygens probe was landed on this moon in 2005, the surface consistency of which was described as like 'creme brulee'. On its surface, liquid hydrocarbon rain washes down valleys and into its great lakes. Almost a century ago, the public was about to be treated to the great race to the uncharted south pole, Scott Amundsen and Shackleton still relatively unknown. A 100 years on, they might be proud to note that magnificent human exploration continues.
Even more remarkable that this work continues in an atmosphere of top-three-issues-only-please morality and politics. Why are we going to Titan when global warming hasn't been sorted out, or the bank bonuses, or, err, global warming? I found the 'boat' story on the BBC website; their top story is currently 'X Factor's Lucie gets model deal'. Oh well, the human spirit also remains beautifully apathetic.

Rage v Mcelderry
Another shot in the arm for those with faith that the suppressed spirit lives on. What are the Brits doing on the blogs now of course? Shooting ourselves in the foot by examining the company structures and making lofty declarations that Sony are actually the company behind both artists so aren't we all stupid? That's not the point. The lyrics are the point, and the fact that the RATM genre stands in polar opposition to that used by X factor and its inevitable predictable bland lifeless ballads. The fact is that most of the people who are supporting RATM saw the viral campaign on Facebook, smiled, thought the idea quite timely and clever, bought the song, then logged out and went about their lives. Lets not get too deep here, everything resides in the simple statement "F*** you I won't do what you tell me".

Tiger Woods, thought he was perfect? I did...
Fantastic, life-affirming news that Tiger Woods is a human being!!! Leaders in any field are born, not made, and the challenge is for any natural leader to maintain their success whilst seeming to conform to the Western social hand-cuffs. The Press, while increasingly insignificant, are leaping all over this bare, straight-forward, piece of LIFE, in order to try desperately to find more cash! And it will surely earn them more cash - but, at the end of the day, a few people, just a few, will take this as a sign of the continuation of the human spirit. Tiger is irrelevant. This is a story of humanity thriving beneath the machine, as it always will.
